The Van Downey Fund

 

 

We have recieved our EIN number for Governmental Status. A BIG thanks to Ryan & Ames (Fred & Catherine) for helping us with that. We have been approved and they have assigned the association as Van Downey Fund.

 

 

 

Van Currently has a "Team" of really great Doctors. They are Listed Below:

We would like to Give a Special note to: Dr. Maurice van Steensel MD PhD In the Netherlands which has been monitoring Van by Doctor's results and email.

Some Doctors we see every Six Months, Some Doctors every 3, and lately more often than that. Because Van is only 7 months old, and recently diagnosed, we are averaging 1-3 Doctors appts a week in the Last 2 months. Each time we Visit a specialist we pay a 50.00 co-pay for just the Visit, If he orders testing, a 300.00 Co-payment for Out-Patient services like MRI/MRA/CT-Scan etc, and a 100.00 for Ultrasounds which he has every 3 months regularly of the abdomen, and has had additional ones lately of the heart etc. And then 50.00 more co-pay to go back to the specialist that ordered the test so he can tell us what the results were. Van also has an AFP blood test drawn every 3 months to check for Liver Cancer etc. His Last one tested High, so he has to go back and do a retest in 3 weeks (update...was done Dec 26th waiting on results). Besides being a Blue Collar family and Having two other kids besides Van, the cost adds up for all these appointments, oh yeah I didn't mention the gas, each Doctor is an hour or more away from our home. We will soon have 2 more Doctors to add to our list. Dr. Sundaram is talking to the Vascular Center in Norfolk to see which Doctor she would like us to see there, And Currently we are talking to Maurice van Steensel MD PhD Based out of the Netherlands. We are trying to raise money to get out there and be evaluated. As they currently are operating the ONLY EXCLUSIVE CMTC Organization in the world. They are a non-profit and their medical care/Testing for CMTC and its complications, their services are free. But we have to get there to benefit from it. Which Brings us to our Fundraisers. Please take the time to look at them, and see if anything interest you. If not, thats ok, Check back often, we will be adding new and different things through-out the months. Your donation is used towards Van's medical care and expenses only. He has his own medical account and any donations are exclusively for that........AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Christmas Ornaments

Our Christmas Fundraiser is now Closed. Hope you all enjoyed your ornaments. We recieved such great feedback on the quality of the ornaments we will be running the fundraiser again next year. Thank you for your support. 

JUG O' LOVE

The Jug O' Love is a fundraiser we are  doing that consist of a jug that will have Van's picture on it and explaining what we are fundraising for, his diagnoses and medical testing, etc. We are trying to get permission to place them in businesses gas stations etc. around the area. If you are able to "man" a Jug and would like to place one in your area please email us. Although People don't like their Pennies, we do!! And they add up. Every Penny counts.
